It's been a while since we have had power - going on two weeks and while I have had many things to update thus is one reason you haven't heard from us! Still no power but sending this update from Adam's phone! After five weeks in Bombo our family took a sabbath and spent the day in the city before picking up the immersion team this morning. We took Luke to a park, saw a movie and got a pizza. This time together was a blessing. After spending some time talking with Laurie we both came to the same conclusion - we really love each other! But seriously, the history that we carry as friends has made this transition as parents in Uganda very smooth. Laurie, Jen, and I were roommates in 2005 and now six years later all married and with children we are all living together in Uganda. Without the history that we carry as friends and how the Lord has grown us we would not be able to serve together in the capacity that we are.  We are so excited to be able to participate in this great work along side our dear friends! Oli otyia? (how are you?), We are doing very well! Everyone is adjusting to the time change and finally last night (sunday) Luke slept through the night! Eden still wakes up every night for an hour or two, but the other night I was happy to enjoy the time with her as she took her first steps! She was very proud of herself. Yeah Edie! Luke has made some new friends. Besides the blessing of his friend Owen living here with us, Luke eagerly introduces himself to the children here. We are blessed to have established relationships with our cooperatives in Bombo. Daily we spend time with these families and many of them have children Luke and Eden's age (Rachel and Gideon are the favorites so far!).  Last week the market experience was overwhelming as I faced culture shock which was rooted in the language barrier and open air market. I had both kids with me and succumbed to the insecurities that exist when one is not familiar with the spoken language or environment. After much preparation, prayer and anticipation we are finally on our way to Uganda! It's difficult to describe all that our family is thinking and feeling right now, but one thing is sure, we are very excited to reunite with our friends who we haven't seen for over three years! It's definitely time for us as a family to spend the summer in a place that we will soon call home.\n\nWe have been preparing Luke through small language lessons and telling him how some things in Africa will be different. He has the answers down, now we will wait for the reaction! He adjusts to change rather well and we are hoping that this transition will be good for him.\n\nEden will take her first steps in Africa this summer! At 14.5 months she is gaining some spunk in her personality but she definitely prefers crawling over the freedom she will soon find in being on her feet! Her favorite foods are fruit, rice and beans so she will do great in Africa!\n\nAdam and I each have our own responsibilities this summer.
